Our Philosophy

Play with a purpose.

The early years of children’s lives are the most critical when it comes to their development. They are growing and learning at a phenomenal rate. At Golden Gate Kids we believe that it is very important to have a child in an environment that is consistent and secure. Children need to be able to form secure attachments not only with their parents but also their teachers/caregivers. Simply being in a loving and nurturing environment forms these types of attachments. We strive to ensure the children to feel as comfortable and secure as they would in their own home. We aim to provide a safe, comfortable, stimulating, fun, and educational environment with a structured day plan. Activities will include free playtime, structured playtime, gross (large) motor skills playtime, fine (small) motor skills activities, story time and theater activities, arts and crafts, music and dance activities, nature and ecology awareness, nutrition, cultural activities, and other educational yet fun activities. We also encourage good personal hygiene skills and manners. Through a mixture of guided and undirected creative play, children in our preschool will have the opportunity to learn about color, shapes, textures, numbers, letters, animals, seasons, feelings, senses, nutrition, personal hygiene, manners, basic science and math concepts, and creative concepts such as “pretend” play, art, music, drama, and dance. These are all things that most preschoolers are able to learn through creative, educational play. Each child will be allowed to learn at his/her own pace. I will not force a child to achieve developmental milestones. There will never be pressure on a child to learn something faster than he/she is able to.

Dayna Crompton

Director

Working in the teaching/childcare profession for over ten years has taught me a lot about myself. After graduating with my Masters degree in Education, Instruction and Curriculum, I went on to teach multiple grade levels. From these experiences I know that I am patient, hardworking and organized. Among these traits other things that make me a great caregiver involve that of being active in my personal life and my community. I have a great love of the outdoors, gardening, hiking and traveling. I have two beautiful daughters and a very loving husband. We are a very active family and love exploring our beautiful city on the weekends. I understand and empathedic to the needs of working parents in SF and so I provide organic meals and snacks and open early!

Mission

Goal 1: To strive to be the best caregivers/ teachers we can be. Goal 2: To ensure the safety of all of our children during all routines and activities and to be alert and attentive at all times. We constantly make certain that the outside play area as well as the indoor space is safe and secure and that we provide a healthy environment. Goal 3: To provide a safe, healthy, and attractive learning environment for the children. Goal 4: To provide physical activities that support large and small muscle development. Goal 5: To provide age-appropriate activities that encourage curiosity and use of the five senses. Goal 6: To support social and emotional development through positive guidance and interactions. Goal 7: To develop caring and sharing partnerships with all parents. Communication is provided through newsletters and daily conversations. Goal 8: To interact with rather than react to the children in our care.
